On behalf of our client, Lemberg & Associates recently filed a complaint in U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Wisconsin, against Valentine and Kebartas. Our client alleges that, in attempting to collect a $305 debt, Valentine and Kebartas robocalled our client’s home phone twice a day. Our client told Valentine and Kebartas that she couldn’t pay the debt, and asked them to stop calling. Nevertheless, Valentine and Kebartas continued to call. Moreover, our client alleges that Valentine and Kebartas used caller ID spoofing to make it appear as though a local moving company was calling.

The lawsuit charges that Valentine and Kebartas violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) by engaging in harassing behavior; by using false, deceptive, or misleading representation in connection with the collection of a debt; and by employing false and deceptive means to collect a debt.
