Nations Recovery Center (NRC) is an Atlanta-based debt collection agency that opened its doors in 1991. Its bread-and-butter collection accounts are bankcards, including Visa, Mastercard, and Discovery, as well as medical debts. While a substantial portion of its business is regional, it is licensed to operate in all 50 states. Nations Recovery Center has one call center located in Atlanta and staffs it with 150 collectors. NRC has been sued by consumers in federal court 16 times in the past 12 months for allegedly violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

Stop Nations Recovery Center Harassment

An interesting story has come to light regarding Nations Recovery Center. The Doralville, GA, police arrested a man for impersonating a Fulton County Deputy Sheriff. The man was dressed in a Fulton County uniform, was carrying a loaded weapon and handcuffs, had Fulton County patches on his sleeves, and for all the world, appeared to be a legitimate Fulton County Deputy Sheriff. The giveaway was his badge, which said NRC Unit. As it turns out, the man was employed as a trainer at Nations Recovery Center. When asked about the event, the CEO for Nations Recovery Center said “I had no idea,” which seems a bit odd as the man was apprehended in NRC's parking lot.

As bad as that is, at least it's limited to the immediate Atlanta area. Consumers consistently complain about Nation Recovery Center collectors calling and demanding immediate payment for a debt without identifying the account number or validating that they've reached the proper person. If you experience this, demand a debt validation letter. NRC has five days to send you a debt validation letter and if it doesn't arrive, send a cease and desist letter to them.

If Nations Recovery Center engages in harassing activities, remember that it is a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. You have rights, and NRC cannot violate those rights.
